Cupping test according to Erichsen

This test method is standardized in DIN 50101, DIN 50102. The cupping test according to Erichsen is the most widely used test method for determining the cupping ability of metallic sheets and strips fixed from 0.2 to 3 mm thickness. Hereby the firmly clamped sheet or strip is dented with a spherical stamp until it ruptures. The test result is the stamp travel up to the crack initiation, the Erichsen cupping IE.
