Welding & soldering in practice
Welding is a material-locking and undetachable process and the product can transmit tensile and compressive forces or be a seal between two media. It is not only necessary to heat both base materials up to the melt and then let them cool down again. In order to achieve professional welding, there are standards for welders and specialist companies that regulate qualification. GWP can support the customer with an accredited laboratory and a certified expert in the implementation and qualification; process and welder certificates are also offered.
Qualification and optimization
In order to be able to assess the quality of a weld seam, it is necessary to take a holistic view of the welded joint and the welding process to be applied. Including the selection of the welding method, the heat conduction, the welding sequence, the layer structure, the welding parameters depending on the base materials and the external conditions.
Most problems do not occur in the weld metal but in the heat-affected zone of the base metal. GWP supports its customers in the preparation of welding instructions and the qualification of these instructions, as well as in the training of welding personnel and helps to optimize processes.
Repair welding
Due to the changed mode of operation of the fossil power plants, the thick-walled components are subjected to a higher LCF load and cracking occurs. In most cases, the components have already had more than 100 starts and well over 100,000Bh behind them. For repair welding, the process therefore begins with a damage investigation and also a creep damage investigation. GWP can do this for its customers and then develop a repair concept and accompany its implementation on site.
