Airbag

GWP has been active in the airbag industry for 25 years and operates its own airbag laboratory.

Pyrotechnics

  • In the ballistic bomb, pressure curves of up to 1,000 bar are measured on propellants ignited according to the GWP method.
  • A pressure-dependent burning rate is determined from the pressure curves (Fraunhofer ICT Method).
  • From the burning rate, conclusions can be drawn about the nature of the propellant and the internal pressure in gas generators.

Chamber pressure measurements

  • Via a measuring hole, drilled from the outside, it is possible to record the internal pressure curve of a gas generator during the burn using a piezo pressure sensor.
  • Additionally, the pressure curve can be recorded in a 60L tank.
  • During the triggering, the ignition current and ignition voltage are also recorded.

Gases, dusts and noise emissions

  • Accredited DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
  • Test according to AKZV01ff, SAE J1794, ...
  • Determine 16 gases and more online with FTIR, MS, CLD, NDIR
  • Determine dust exposure with Andersen-impactor
  • Measuring and judging noises
  • In the vehicle or in test chambers (e.g. 2,7 m3, 60 l, alpha-cabin)

Functional analysis

  • Delaboration of the module from the gas generator up to the heating bridge (permission by § 7 Spreng G.)
  • Electrical examination, test on integrity
  • Contacts and connectors
  • Environmental influences and corrosion

  • Contacts and connectors
  • Environmental influences and corrosion

Igniters

  • Functional reliability of constructions
  • Corrosion in the igniter
  • Homogeneity of the molding material/element distribution
  • Meltdown: glass/metal contact
  • Contact resistances of pins, jumpers
