The writing resistance according to VW PV 3974 examines the effect of fingernails on grained, unpainted vehicle interior components.

The test is carried out using a rounded circular disk, which can leave irreversible scratches or writing marks on the component. For evaluation, a gloss measurement is carried out both before and after the test. The result is then visually checked for plausibility.
