Total carbon emissions VDA 277 1995-01
Determination of the emission of organic compounds
The total carbon emissions of non-metallic automotive materials are examined in the test procedure according to the VDA 277 standard. The crushed sample is stored in a closed gas volume using headspace GC and then separated and analyzed using gas chromatography. The emissions are determined in µg of carbon per gram of sample.
In contrast to VDA 277, VDA 278 does not identify individual VOCs using mass spectrometric detection. Only a total parameter is determined using GC-FID.
