tensile shear test on adhesives

The tensile shear test according to DIN EN 1465 is a test to examine the strength of adhesive bonds. Two test specimens to be joined are glued together and pulled apart at the free ends using a tensile testing machine. The force required to pull them apart, in conjunction with the size of the bonding surface, results in the maximum tensile shear strength. This test also produces a fracture pattern that can be used to determine the type of failure of the bond (cohesive failure, adhesive failure, etc.) according to DIN EN ISO 10365.

Standards: DIN EN 1465, DIN EN ISO 10365, ASTM D3163, ASTM D1002, ASTM D5868
