abrasion test

The abrasion resistance of a component is defined as the relative change in gloss in percent based on the initial gloss level. First, the gloss is measured on the component in its unchanged state.

The component is then machined with a micro-abrasive grain attached to a type C friction pin.

After this scrubbing process, the gloss measurement is repeated in the treated area to determine the scrub resistance.
