Color measurement describes the color and gloss effect of a sample using objective numbers. It is independent of the observer's subjective color impression.
The color measurements are carried out using a spectrophotometer. This measures the remission values of visible light from infrared to ultraviolet. This allows color deviations to be calculated and deviations to be defined. The color measurements are carried out under defined UV lighting and measuring geometry.
Color measurements are possible on films, textiles, metals, painted surfaces and injection molded parts.
- Determination of the color difference
- color search
- color strength determination
- Metamerie
- on-site color measurement

Visual color evaluation
The visual evaluation of the color is just as important as an instrumental color measurement. The subjective color assessment should always be carried out under standardized lighting conditions and viewing angles.
- Evaluation of color fastness on a gray scale
