Aim of the research project (BMBF reference number: 03MAI07B)
The from the BMBF The research project funded by the German Research Foundation aimed to develop an innovative applicator to develop, build and test in order to CFRP production and -Repair This particularly applies to applications in Automotive engineering and in the AerospaceThe applicator should make the manufacturing process more efficient by eliminating the need for previously complex process steps such as weaving, pre-forms, lengthy curing and trimming reduced. Instead, the roving directly processed: by Spread, Soak, the hardening initiation and the precise filing of the fibers at the desired location with appropriate orientation. This enables flexible adjustment of Orientation and wall thicknesses to local requirements.
Tasks of the GWP
The GWP had the task of finding suitable combinations of radiation source, luminescent nanoparticles, cover, Initiator and resin system to identify a fast, volume-penetrating hardening Various methods of radiation curing used, including X-rays and UV radiation.
In addition, a in-line sensors developed and tested, which enables real-time evaluation of numerous process parameters such as:
- roving thickness
- roving width
- gassiness
- degree of hardening
This sensor technology ensures precise monitoring and optimization of the manufacturing process in real time.
Results and further information
